World Human Rights Day
December 10, 2022, World Human Rights Day. Xiao Lu participated in the Human Rights Day march organized by the Iranian Society in Sydney. Afterwards, She came to the Sydney Opera House and held up a piece of A4 white paper to express her support for China’s “White Paper Movement”.
Women Life Freedom Rally
On October 1, 2022, Xiao Lu put on an umbrella and went to Belmore Park at Sydney Central Station to participate in the “Women Life Freedom” protest rally organized by Iranians. Freedom and women’s rights are written on the umbrella in Chinese, English and Persian.
Dirt – Trace

Xiao Lu, wearing a long black dress stands in front of the work and tells the viewers: “This work is for Hong Kong.” She then enters the space shaped like a trilateral pyramid, two sides of which (including the base) are red, the remaining two sides being transparent, and which is almost hermetically sealed.

Evacuating the Low-End Population
On December 5, 2017, I saw the news about the eviction of the “low-end population” from Xinjian Village in Beijing’s Daxing District through WeChat in Hangzhou.
Holy Water
Xiao Lu places 27 blue acrylic plates (40 x 60 cm) from east to west in a diagonal line in the Piazza San Marco in Venice, and pours a bottle of Moutai (53% alcohol) into 7 white porcelain bowls.
Suspension
Two blocks of frozen water and two blocks of frozen ink suspended mid-air, drip continuously onto xuan rice paper. Xiao Lu walks towards the first black ice block, caresses it and spins it, moaning softly, letting the black ink drip onto her white dress.
Polar
I was inspired by the Arctic icebergs: the ice block was the barrier to break through. While cutting the ice with a knife, I hurt myself: my blood started to spill all over the ice surface, as if my life was truly touching the aura of the Polar Regions.
War & Peace
Xiao Lu scattered bullets and millet to Piazza San Marco in Venice. Pigeons gathered around her and ate up the millet, leaving the bullets.

The work, People, continues Xiao Lu’s response to the concept of yin and yang. In Eastern philosophy, yin and yang, as the two core elements that make up nature, reinforce and neutralise each other.

Money Laundering
It was a repetitive and slow performance, an action which women have done for thousands of years. But of course with a signification beyond that of only cleaning household linen.
Open Close
A door opened, Xiao Lu went into a room, and the door closed behind her. In the darkness, there are more than eighty square-shaped candles.
Bast paper room
Using “skin paper”(pizhi,mulberry bast fibre paper), Xiao Lu constructed a room of 20 square meters, imitating the Daoist method of Pigu (Pigu, literally “refrain from eating grains”, a Daoist isolation exercise).
Purge
Xiao Lu carried a bucket of sediment dug out of the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal in China to The Grand Canal Exhibition in preparation to smear it all over herself before jumping into the Canal Grande in Venice and washing the sediment off her body.
Bald Girls
The title is derived from the French sbsurdist play The Bald Soprano, written by famous playwright Eugene lonesco in the 1950s. In this case, because the words for “spear” and “song” are pronounced the same way in Chinese.
Menopause
On 1 January 2011, I copied out a Tang poem using Chinese medicine for oral administration that I had to hand. Continuing to copy Tang poetry for several successive days, I experienced a feeling of physical and mental well-being, so I decided to continue for 365 days in order to copy out the entire Three Hundred Tang Poems.
Drunk
Sixteen bottles of red wine were arranged in a circle, and Xiao Lu began to drink. When she got to the fourth glass, the viewers of their own accord came up to her to clink glasses and drink with her.

On 5 February 2009, at the “Twenty Years Anniversary of the China/Avant-Guade Exhibition”, I performance a wedding ceremony for myself at the “Wall Art Museum” in Beijing.
